I just moved into a new house. I noticed that it has Ethernet wall jacks all around the house. Now I want to get it where I can hook a computer into one (or all) of the jacks and get internet. I looked around and there doesn’t seem to be a central “server” or internet connection for the jacks. Do I just need to call Comcast and ask for them to hook up the Ethernet jacks?

i thought of this for a new home. congrats.

i’d run all the jacks into the fusebox room/garage. put your incomming cable (preferred) or dsl (yuck) modem there, then put the router beside it. then plug in the house’s ethernet jacks to the router ports.

that simple network could work well. wired is better then wireless. stable and “always works” once set up.

also romulan dampening fields won’t tear down yer wireless networks.
