To work as a waitress at the Olive Garden or other sit-down restaurant, 16 I Would not?

Concern created by jessicamofessica: At 16 could I work as a waitress at Olive Garden or another sit-down restaurant?

I’ve heard you need to be 18 because they serve alcohol at Olive Garden, but I don’t see why I can’t serve the food, and if someone orders alcohol they can just have someone else bring it out. Whenever I go out to restaurants its not that unusual to have one person as our “server” but every once in a while someone else will bring out a dish or drinks or refill our water.

This really is only about At 16 could I work as a waitress at Olive Garden or another sit-down restaurant? that you might might want to clear up troubles independantly. Can easily it will help in many ways; and will make everything much better. With the expectation only about At 16 could I work as a waitress at Olive Garden or another sit-down restaurant? may well be a simple solution later in life.

You cant work as a server until your 18 but you can be a hostess. The only difference is the better pay but you don’t get tips.

I have friends who are 15 years old and they

work at Earls as waitresses, but they don’t

serve the drinks they just show people to their

tables, give them the menu, and work till when

people pay for their food. But I would call and

check to make sure.

You do have to be 18, the only restaurant that you can work at is most fast food restaurants at your current age.

21 in some states. A lot of sit down restaurants don’t serve alcohol, apply there.

You have to be 18 and there is a reason for it. It is a very demanding job and takes a certain amount of maturity. You may want to try a private restaurant because they most likely wont age discriminate.

You have to be between 18-21 to work at those places. Different states have different laws when it comes to handling alcohol. You could always start out being a hostess or busser and then by the time you turn 18 or the required age they will most likely be very willing to train you to be a server.

Olive Garden is 18. If you’re 16, you can work at IHOP, Dennys, and other places like that. You could be a host or hostess, or a busboy, or a bar-back….

In Canada you need to be 18 to be a server…jus cuz of the alcohol…. But if you wanna work at the Olive Garden…try for a busser…they get higher wage plus some tips…or try for salad/alley person, take-out person, or dishwasher… however dishwashers have some really long nights…Good Luck = )

  1. I work at a restaraunt that serves alcohol. To be honest when it's busy we all work together taking eachother food out and delivering drinks. The problem with this mentality is we are all age appropriate for this reason. If we have someone underage who can't serve alcohol it puts a break in the system it might not seem like a big deal but when your busy it is. The system needs to work. That's why we are such a great family where I work...

    1. I also agree that you need experience before serving alcohol and a type of maturity bc there's a lot of laws surrounding it. You can be fined for a lot of reasons. So it's important to know everything about your job. That's why they make it the age they do. Plus I honest wouldn't find it appropriate having a 15 yr old child serving at an establishment that serves alcohol there's so many more restaraunts that dont
