k. I really want to start a minecraft server for beta 1.6.6 but right now it is only an idea. im ok but not the best with computers either. Can someone give me the STEP BY STEP and DETAILED instructions on how to create a minecraft server starting from point A (saying to yourself “i want to start a minecraft server”) to point B (being on the server with people joining as well)

Especially to save complication of IP address I’d suggest you and your friends installing Hamachi, and they join your hamachi “room” and you use the ip Hamachi says to use. Your friends need to be connected to this to join.

1) Place server runner in a folder.

2) Run it, it will create new files. Type “stop” to end it.

3) Edit the server.PROPERTIES file with wordpad, put the ip from hamachi in beside where it asks for the ip address (or if you know your IP address, believe this requires “port forwarding” though, type that here instead).

4) Run the server again, keep it open. Type the ip with the port extension (usually :25565) into the ip bar in multiplayer. You’ll connect to your map, so can your friends.
